Whitewater was a criminal scam involving high ranking Democratic officials and was in fact a scheme to defraud potential home buyers. Blackwater is a company hired by the Government to provide security to Iraqi diplomats and ranking officials. There is no comparison. If any wrongdoing was performed, it is the company that hired the men, not the Republicans at fault.
Whitewater allowed the Clintons to scam citizens, mostly seniors, out of a bunch of money leaving many of them with nothing. Blackwater is a contractor who's employees risk their lives to keep the USA safe from the dangers presented by some of the Islamic nations.
Cause they're trying to stay out of "hot water."
It is all about who is getting the horn up the butt. It was the Republicans with White Water but they still do not see how anyone could think they would cheat, steal, lie and pee on the opposition party.
However, remembeyawn gifr that a Republican President's White House Staff, the Plumbers, were caught red handed in the National Democratic Office at the Whitewater Building. Clearly a major violation of the law. So they were embarrassed but even closer to the point, the pinched Plumbers eventually caused the Republicans to lose Nixon after Resignation and the White House to a Democrat named Carter. Talk about mad.
The Republicans can not figure out how anyone could punish them for their deeds.
The Blackwater events now in the news amounts to a highly trained and active military like special forces running around Baghdad like they own the place shooting first and not asking any questions afterwords. Also, Blackwater like other private security units in Iraq is not governed by any laws in any Country or Court. They are above the law. Now this is news.
America, the land of a historical and often pointed to Constitution is sponsoring a forcyawn gife that is operating in someone else's Country like they are not only occupational but forces out of control in terms of accountability.
At the same time, regular American Troops are handed long and painful punishments for transgressing laws around conduct in Iraq while they are under fire.
And, only the lower ranking rates in the United States Military are severally punished which is justice turned on its head. The conduct of Blackwater sounds like a WW11 SS Nazi Army in Europe where mad men are running the show.
This is unAmerican to say the least.
Back to your question. Republicans want to live in a world where the opposition is punished but not the Republicans for transgressing laws. Yeah, this is the issue at hand!
