I've seen a lot of sites that makes the youtube video into a flv or vlc file or whatever, and if you want it in another file you have to download a converter first. Then another site converted the video to avi file but windows media player couldn't read it. Is there any site that just converts it to a wmv file? And isn't avi supposed to work on windows xp?
not possible,www.vixy.net is the best known online converter & no other online converter even gives options like it.
but there r small,really small tools which can b downloaded 4 free & then they can download as well as convert video in other formats,even in wmv.

Do this with Firefox 1.5 above, then just follow these steps
1. You will need "DownloadHelper" from mozilla Firefox so go to
2. Search key = DownloadHelper
3. Downloyoutube video download and converterad And Install this addons (DownloadHelper) your firefox will asking for restart. just do it
4. now open that link as you ask for !!!
5. you will select to open your video. but it be better if you using "right click" and click "open link in new tab". this is only to prevent firefox open new window when you do this stage with "left click"
6. on that new tab when the video is begin to start (preloading)... click => Tools > DownloadHelper > "file with video extension ". do not do this after movie already play the content you will need to "reload" the current page and do this stage again
